Chelsea suffered a 1-4 defeat at the hands of Manchester United in the 32nd round (net) of the 2022-23 English Premier League (EPL) season at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, at 4:00 a.m. ET on Saturday. Chelsea remained 12th in the league (43 points) 토토사이트and had to watch their opponents qualify for the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

It was a disastrous performance. Chelsea conceded the victory to United, exposing problems on both sides of the ball with a weak organisation that has been a recurring theme this season. In the 33rd minute, Wesley Fofana’s poor pass to Bruno Fernandes for Marcus Rashford to slot home was the summation of the game.

At least they had some dignity. In the 44th minute, Joao Felix drove the ball into United’s half from outside the box, got in front of the defence and split the net with a bold opposite-footed shot.

Ziyech was credited with an assist. He was the last player to pass the ball to Felix before he got his hands on it. It’s true that his one-touch transition pass was accurate and sharp, but it’s more appropriate to call it an assist.

For him, it didn’t matter. He even didn’t seem too bothered by his team’s defeat: after the game, he went up to his former coach at Ajax, Ten Hagh, and smiled and chatted with him. This was not the behaviour of a player on a team that had just suffered a three-goal defeat.

There was a reason for that. Ziyech was almost certain to leave the club last winter. At the time, he had fully agreed a loan deal with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), but a documentation error at Chelsea caused the final deadline to be missed, and he was forced to cry and eat mustard to stay with the team.

At Chelsea, he was still benched. He made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, but only nine of them were starts, and even then, after his move to PSG fell through, he was often benched or dropped from the roster altogether.

Ziyech’s current contract runs until June 2025. However, it is likely that he will leave the club this summer. It’s already clear that his heart is not at Stamford Bridge, and his chat with Van Gaal is just one more episode to prove it.
