Yang Hyun-jong started the 12th game of the season against Doosan in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 7th and recorded his 100th strikeout of the season in the bottom of the second inning.
Yang Hyeon-jong met Park Gye-beom at first base with no outs in the second inning, trailing 0-1, and struck out a missed swing. After preempting a favorable count of 1B-2S, he used a sharp changeup on the 4th pitch to induce a missed swing. It was Yang Hyun-jong’s 100th strikeout of the 2023 season.
With this strikeout, Yang Hyun-jong succeeded in striking out 100 for 9 consecutive years since 2014. He has consistently recorded triple-digit strikeouts for 10 seasons, with the exception of 2021 when he went to the major league Texas Rangers. 안전놀이터
This is the third record in KBO League history, following KT coach Lee Kang-cheol and Doosan Jang Won-jun. Manager Lee Kang-cheol opened a new chapter in the strikeout record by succeeding in striking out 100 times for 10 consecutive years from 1989 to 1998, and Jang Won-jun also recorded 10 consecutive strikeouts for Lotte and Doosan from 2007 to 2018 (excluding military service in 2012-2013).
